MUSALIA MUDAVADI MADE NASA'S FLAG BEARER AS KALONZO WALKS OUT
- The Opposition has finally decided who will be the NASA flag-bearer ending months of tension and wrangles
- The decision has however not made Kalonzo happy and it is not known if he will still remain in the coalition or not
- The 10-hour long meeting culminated in the signing of a deal which is expected to be honoured after the August 8 elections
The NASA coalition's headache is over after the four principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi finally settled on one of them to be the Opposition's presidential candidate
But the decision may break the coalition as Kalonzo is said to be uncomfortable with the decision although he agreed to sign it. Mudavadi has now been given the party ticket and will go head to head with President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 8 elections. Reports indicate that the NASA principals met at an undisclosed location for about 10-hours in a marathon meting also attended by very close associates of the four leaders. Sources revealed US that the leaders settled on Mudavadi as the coalition feel he is the most neutral of all principals.
Kalonzo will be his running mate with sources saying this was arrived at to prevent the Wiper leader from bolting out of the coalition hence break it and give Jubilee a clear win. Raila will get a Prime Minister position in the government which will also see Wetangula become the leader of Majority in the Senate. "We finally have the white smoke, we have at last made a decision and we ask our supporters to support us. The journey to remove Jubilee from power has just began," said Siaya Senator James Orengo in a statement to newsrooms co-signed together with his Machakos counterpart Johnson Muthama. The four leaders have been engaged in a tussle as to who is the most suitable among them to be the coalition's flag bearer.
